Are you interested in an international exchange experience? Consider studying at Vejlefjord Gymnasium in Denmark!

Each year 5-10 exchange students from many different countries such as Germany, Italy, Argentina, the USA and Japan join us at Vejlefjord Gymnasium. As an exchange student, you will attend Danish classes and experience Danish culture first hand. At the same time, you will become part of an international community of exchange students and young volunteer workers from all over the world.

Attending school               

The Danish students at the Gymnasium are 15-20 years old and spend three years at the school. Our teachers maintain a relaxed and friendly relationship with their students, while still providing professional guidance and support. At Vejlefjord Gymnasium you will have the freedom to choose most of your courses yourself. Don’t worry if you don’t speak Danish – in the classes that are taught in Danish, AI tools will help you follow along. Regardless of whether you take exams or not, you will receive written assessments by the end of the year in all your courses.

Spare time

Playing volleyball, badminton or football, going to the gym, creating in Makerspace, baking cakes, singing with the choir, going for a walk to the beach, doing outdoor activities kayaking, canoeing or swimming, or just playing a board game are all activities you can engage in in your spare time. As your classmates live on campus, you will be surrounded by friends all the time.

Learn the Danish language and culture

The school offers Danish language and culture classes with many fun activities. These classes, as well as participating in other classes and spending time with the Danish students in your spare time, make it easier to learn the language.

Study trips

Each year, our classes embark on study trips to explore new destinations. 1^st year students normally go to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, 2^nd year students visit another European city, and 3^rd year students travel to either France or Spain to practice their language skills. The students also go on a skiing holiday to Norway each spring, and if you choose to join the choir, you will get the chance to go on a choir trip to e.g. a Scandinavian country, Germany or The Netherlands. 

Visiting other places in Denmark

The school is conveniently located near Vejle and Hedensted with easy access to trains and buses that take you throughout Denmark. Denmark’s capital, wonderful Copenhagen, is just a 2-hour train ride from our location.

All in all, Vejlefjord Gymnasium is an exciting opportunity to attend a year abroad in high school while you learn Danish, make new friends, participate in many fun activities, and have a wonderful time.
